About the Artwork

The insular government introduced motor-driven caravans during the Manila Carnival, held from 1908 until the ’30s. Caravans, including booths, were positioned along the Wallace Field in Luneta Park. They sold regional handicrafts and goods.

Soft earthy tones combined with muted colors evoke the simplicity and struggle of rural life. The depiction of the carabao carrying a heavy load represents resilience and tradition, eliciting feelings of reflection and reverence for labor and heritage.
