About the Artwork
The painting depicts a figure immersed in a muddy pond, their body partially obscured by the thick, earthy water. As they cleanse themselves, the mud flows away, revealing their skin as a symbol of purity.
Above, a delicate lotus flower blooms, mirroring the figure's emergence from the murkiness into a state of untainted clarity.
Utilizing cool and muted tones of blue and cyan, accented with soft contrasts of white and orange, the scene conveys a sense of soothing tranquility. The flowing patterns and floating flowers evoke calmness and harmony, creating a serene and meditative mood.

Art conveys stories, evokes emotions, and transcends the material realm.
Born in Mindanao, studied in Visayas, and now working in Luzon, Jaime, also known as DUAG.art, is an Ilonggo artist and architect who specializes in abstract and Abstract Expressionism art whose symbolic storytelling conveys emotions, life experiences, as well as travel takeaways promoting both Bisaya and Filipino dialects.
Ever since the artist’s return to the art scene in 2022, his artworks have been exhibited at several art shows in the Philippines, such as the Sining Galing, the Grey Space (IBP Charity Auction), South Arts Festival in Crimson Alabang, GSIS Museo ng Sining, Art Show Philippines, and more to come.
The artist’s choice of materials and art style is heavily influenced by merging upcycled materials with acrylic to turn into mixed-media art that captures emotions and life experiences.
He starts with rigid materials as metaphors for conventional masculinity that society expected men to be like, then turns them into tasteful and visually flowing masterpieces that symbolize how anyone can also be soft, flexible, and nurturing--and these qualities do not make one any less of a person. As someone who embodies these qualities, his artworks celebrate individuality, not being boxed up to certain qualities; their unique qualities make him the artist he is today.
