"Seeking Warmth" captures the essence of finding comfort in the sun's golden embrace.

This round, textured painting features a radiant gold sun surrounded by blue and green leaves and delicate pink and gold petals, creating a sanctuary of light and vibrant color.

This was an official entry to the National Quincentennial Painting Competition "Sovereignty Category."

It is a two-way painting that shows the battle of Mactan with the naked eye and, when viewed in reverse (negative), the other heroes that followed after the 1521 victory: from Rizal to Bonifacio, Quezon to Liwayway, Penaflorida to Ambubuyog, and other unsung heroes.

Remembering the joys of my childhood in this time of war 

We all have specific battles in our time: emotionally, mentally, and spiritually, not just a physical battle, and we all want to win. Winning battles are not just employing strategic planning and execution, but also by calming the self, gaining strength from the people we love, and by just simply remembering the joys of our childhood as an inspiration.

An old warrior of Ifugao who fought heroically during the Spanish and Japanese War

The painting depicts farmers as “economic warriors" who struggle with sweat and blood just for the economic sustenance of the community. Yet most of them belong to the poorest of the poor. They are powerless; some work with hungry stomachs and some are oppressed by capitalists and landlords.

They are the ones who secure the economy, yet they are powerless.

I like how warm the scene feels with the sunlight coming through the dark trees. The yellow glow comes alive against the blue and white snow. 

Health workers are considered service warriors. They play a crucial role in society, especially during challenging times like the global health crisis. Their dedication, compassion, and tireless efforts in providing healthcare services are exceptional.

This piece is dedicated to those who find it hard to move on from their past traumatic experiences, relationships, or losses.  It reminds everyone that they're in a huge battle against a giant wave over and over.  If they managed to get themselves out, a bright future is waiting for them patiently.  They need to leave the same waters that haunt them.

"She Deserves to Reward Herself" captures a moment of indulgence, a woman granting herself something she truly enjoys without guilt or hesitation. The rich colors and expressive gaze reflect the balance between desire and self-worth, reminding us that treating oneself isn’t just a luxury but a necessity. 

The combination of colors and patterns may symbolize the complexities of emotions and personal identity, inviting viewers to engage with the subject on multiple levels.

The woman’s expression, with its calm yet contemplative demeanor, suggests a moment of reflection or insight, aligning well with the overarching theme of self-love.

The artwork, exhibited in Singapore, is a reminder to help and protect our indigenous people.
