The roundabout was built in 1948, with a marble monument designed by Luciano V. Aquino. It was erected at its center to welcome visitors to Quezon City, which was then the Philippines' newly declared capital. The monument is surrounded by four lions indicating the cardinal directions.

The simplicity and lifestyle moved me from painting the scenery with different stories to tell around the area.

After my best friend's passing and visiting his hometown, the things I saw there brought me back to painting. While my chest feels heavy and grieving as I walk through this street going to the port, I'm trying to fool myself into thinking that he will return, still figuring out his way home.

Inspired by classic vehicles; they're elegant.

A sample of the social scene in the City of Vigan, Ilocos Norte

Referring to local Philippine-made ice cream, the word sorbetes is from the Spanish sorbete, meaning sorbet or sherbet. The man who sells ice cream is called a sorbetero.

This painting brings back the days when the "street ice cream" was enough to make us happy.

It's on a box-type canvas, varnished, and ready to hang.

"The Madonna of the Streets" is a tender image of the Virgin Mary, often portrayed as a mother protecting her child amid hardship and poverty. This title highlights her deep compassion for the marginalized and vulnerable, reminding us of her loving presence in the struggles of everyday life, offering comfort, hope, and shelter to all in need.

Venues specializing in manga, anime, and video games include Tokyo Anime Center, for exhibits and souvenirs, and Radio Kaikan, with 10 floors of toys, trading cards, and collectibles. 

Before the tranvia, the mode of transportation in Manila was mostly horse-drawn, consisting of the calesa, the carromata, and the caruaje. The tranvia served as the first railway transport to run across the Philippines. It was hailed as "state-of-the-art" in East Asia.

"Pungko-Pungko" refers to a popular dining style, where people squat or sit on low benches (pungko) to enjoy local delicacies the vendors sell.

This piece highlights the cultural significance and communal aspect of Cebu's beloved street food tradition.

Ledesma Building, Intramuros, Manila

This was sketched during the Dia del Libro event held in March 2023 along Real Street in Intramuros, Manila. The heat index was terrible, but some of us at Urban Sketchers QC decided to hold an ad hoc sketch session. I chose this view of the Oscar Ledesma Building because the spot was in the shade. I also wanted to avoid blocking people's paths.

The paper used for this sketch is toned tan mixed media paper. I used this to give the drawing a vintage look, which was apt for the location.

A street scene in Cebu in which the barangay lies under the expansive Commercial Business District. The picture freezes a moment in which these untitled properties may disappear as commercialism could take over.

This piece was created with watercolor techniques onto a greyscale printed picture onto a watercolor art paper. This gives a unique detail of a high-resolution photograph and vibrant colors and individuality that only come from watercolor.

Florence is the capital city of Tuscany, Italy.

I love how simple the scene is. The cool colors against the neutral backdrop give a relaxing vibe. Of course, the dappled lights always add exciting details to the already chirpy mood. 

The piece depicts a street scene in Barangay Luz, Cebu, capturing the everyday life of the locals.

Its source was a photograph, which was then painted in watercolor--following a unique process.

It's professionally framed using a classic Manhattan frame with double mounts, 29" x 24" with the frame.

Like most of us, they go out every day to earn an honest living the best way they can. A road nuisance to many, but to many more, it provides mobility. But times are changing, and the reign of the ‘king of the road” seems to be coming to an end as more practical modes of transport rapidly grow in numbers, signifying the end of an era. The jeepney is an age-old icon representing Pinoy's artistry and adaptability deserves to be remembered and immortalized.

A souvenir shop I stumbled upon while visiting Vigan City; the artwork was painted on a canvas panel.

A professional Filipino photographer, birdman, captured the original photo. It has photo captured my heart because it's full of emotions, and it tells a lot of stories. So, I asked permission from the photographer to use his photo as a coffee painting reference.

"Calle Crisologo" is a busy street located at the Heritage Village, in Vigan, Ilocos Sur, where you can find an array of old Spanish houses.

I used to stay at Aunt Bining's house near Calle Crisologo. When Aunt Bining's husband died, she and her son migrated to our province in Batangas. Unfortunately, my aunt and her son died recently because of COVID-19.

The proceeds will go the Aunt Bining's family.

"Maneki Neko" captures a heartwarming scene of a street vendor engrossed in her work with her loyal white cat by her side. The feline, dressed in a vibrant orange outfit, symbolizes a real-life lucky charm, bringing prosperity and joy to her humble business, blending tradition with the everyday charm of real life.
