Maria Lourena is a self-taught visual artist. Her mediums of choice are oil, charcoal, and pencil.
She taught summer art workshops in her hometown, Tacloban, and participated in several local art exhibits when she was in her 20s.
She’s now 46 and decided to return to painting after a 25-year sabbatical from oil painting. At first, she was afraid to start painting again, but she told herself, "It's just a piece of canvas; just color it!" She did!
