Anna Celestine is a 21-year-old self-taught artist. She started taking her art journey seriously in 2020 while she was undergoing chemotherapy.
It started as a fun hobby. One of her "want to do" lists was to learn how to draw a proportional face, and to her surprise, she was able to do one, which blew off from there.
Until the time came when someone commissioned her to do a portrait; that's when she started to invest in artist-grade materials.
She enjoys doing very intricate detail, that's why for the longest time, she was obsessed with doing hyperrealism with charcoals and watercolor.

Charcoal, on Paper, Special Paper, Fine Art Paper, 40w x 35h inches LI created this piece during the entirety of my chemotherapy.
My take on "Nostalgia" is about realizing that everything we thought mattered doesn't have much merit in the face of an impending death, and in the end, the only thing left with us is our memories.
This charcoal painting is done on arches 300 gsm hot-pressed watercolor paper. If I remember correctly, it took me seven months to finish this piece because I was having such a hard time with the side effects of chemo and adjusting how the painting would look (like the angle of the rose or the overall lighting) since I took a bunch of reference pictures and real-time details that I added to my piece.
