About the Artwork

    This piece is dedicated to those who find it hard to move on from their past traumatic experiences, relationships, or losses.  It reminds everyone that they're in a huge battle against a giant wave over and over.  If they managed to get themselves out, a bright future is waiting for them patiently.  They need to leave the same waters that haunt them.

    Through the use of contrasting colors like deep blue and vibrant orange and expressive brushwork, it emanates dynamic energy and intensity, creating a strong sense of force and awe.

    Paul Steven was initially sketching as a hobby. As a child, he started drawing with pencils and crayons. Since then, drawing has become his primary form of communication. Though just recently, he tried and experimented with acrylic painting, which gave him a broader scope of what his art could offer and the message he could convey. For his subjects, he visualizes human nature, societal issues, and current crises for the people to see what they fear, avoid, and want to express in words but struggle with.
