    Design Center of the Philippines Holds “Design Thinking” Conference, Sept. 22

    Manila, Philippines—The Design Center of the Philippines, an agency of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), is holding its first International Design Conference on Friday, September 22, at The Eye at The Hotel at Green Sun (2285 Chino Roces Avenue Extension, Makati City).  Registration starts at 8 a.m.

    This conference, carrying the slogan “We Design,” puts the spotlight on the intersection of business and design with the overall theme of design thinking, human-centered design, and design-driven culture. 

    It will feature some of the world’s top designers, business leaders, and rising stars in the business and creative sectors to talk about the importance of integrating human behavior into the design process, the balance of usability and business constraints, as well as the user experience and product function.

    The set of speakers include Chairmom & Chief Creative Officer of Dentsu Jayme Syfu, Merlee Jayme, who will present the opening keynote “We Design: The Power of Design Thinking”; WGSN Trend Specialist Charlie Clark, who will talk about “Products and Services of Tomorrow,” and design and design research consultant Dan Formosa, Ph.D, who will highlight the innovative ways to understand people through both qualitative and quantitative methods.

    Additionally, the conference will feature notable advocates of design thinking including Keiji Ashizawa, founder of the architectural firm Keiji Ashizawa Design, and Gerson Abesamis, co-founder and executive director of the learning experience design firm Habi Education Lab.

    These resource persons will share their own stories from concept to completion, and the stages in between –all harbored with the deeper understanding of human needs, brand identity, and business strategy.
